Rainy season in the Philippines

The storm update from this morning is informing us that the extremely catastrophic Super Typhoon Sepat (named Egay in the Philippines) barreling dangerously across the Western Philippine Sea remains at Category 5 (i.e. the highest category according to the Saffir-Simpson Tropical Cyclone Scale) with winds of 260 km/h. Egay is now on its way to the Batanes Group of Islands and Taiwan.

This message means that heavy rain can be expected for Manila but due to the direction of Super Typhoon Egay we will not see any monster billboards flying around as it happened last year in September under Milenyo.

Photo from rainy Santa Cruz on the island of Marinduque (but far away from tyhoon category 5) in April 2006.

It was bad in Manila. It took me 6 hours(SIX !) from Intramuros to Makati! There wasn't that much rain but streets were quickly flooded...
(Worse thing about it... I forgot my camera at home.)

Sidney: You were not alone. Kill Bill also got stuck:

'Hollywood film director Quentin Tarantino, who was in Manila to receive a film award, was forced to abandon his limousine, which got stuck in Manila traffic for about 2-1/2 hours. He hopped into a bicycle taxi or "pedicab" as he scrambled to get to the Malacanang presidential palace to receive the award.

Tarantino is well-known for his films "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill."

I know, I know. Even GMA got struck in the traffic but that hardly eases my frustrations...
